BRNW Banded Birds

We began color- banding Caspian Terns in 2000 and Double-crested Cormorants in 2008 at multiple colony sites in the Pacific Northwest. These on-going banding and monitoring programs provide us with information on the demography (survival and recruitment rates), inter-colony movements, dispersal, and migration patterns of these species. Information collected from banded birds help us better understand these colonial waterbird species and provide us with valuable information necessary for their conservation and management.
